Dutchess County residents Kenyatta Jackson, age 33, and Zaccia Curtis, age 21, both of the City of Poughkeepsie, were charged on Wednesday, Oct. 25 with two counts of criminal possession of a controlled substance with intent to sell following an investigation into drug sales in the region.

"The Dutchess County Drug Task Force said the unit has been continuing to aggressively investigate drug dealers who sell poison in our communities," said Det. Sgt. Adam Harris of the task force.

The bust went down during the early morning hours Wednesday when the Task Force, along with the Dutchess County Sheriff’s Office Emergency Service Unit and the City of Poughkeepsie Police Neighborhood Recovery Unit executed search warrants at the residences of both men, Harris said.

Upon executing both warrants, a quantity of fentanyl, cocaine, and other narcotics were seized at both addresses and both Jackson and Curtis were taken into custody without incident, Harris said.

Curtis is currently on Dutchess County Probation as a result of a weapons conviction earlier this year.

The raids were the result of an ongoing DTF investigation into fentanyl and narcotic sales in the City and Town of Poughkeepsie, he added.

Both suspects are being held pending arraignment in the City of Poughkeepsie Justice Court later Wednesday morning.

Additional charges are pending, Harris said.

"The Drug Task Force will aggressively target poison dealers in Dutchess County to prevent senseless and preventable overdose deaths in Dutchess County," Harris said.
